The three major facilities of Beijing's Municipal Administrative Center (BMC) are a key project to strengthen the city's role as the center for international exchanges. At present, the main structures have been capped. The facades will be unveiled by the end of this year and the facilities will be ready to open by the end of 2023. The theater, museum and library, will be completed and put into high-level operation in five years.

The design of the BMC Library, also known as the "Forest of Knowledge" Library, is inspired by Chinese traditional seal and gingko leaves. The library has a classic book section, an art book section and a children's hall. The basement floor is mainly used as stacks. By introducing the world's leading "smart mechanical library" technology, the stacks can quickly respond to the borrowing needs and finish the check-in and check-out of books in an accurate manner, transforming the service model from "people looking for books" to "books coming to people". In addition, the facade is composed of 276 ultra-high glass curtain walls, lending the library more sunlight. By integrating forest scenery with reading areas, the library will provide a comfortable and unique reading experience for readers.

The museum, also known as the "Boat of the Grand Canal", is inspired by the elements of ship, sail and water in the ancient canal scenery. The museum can receive 6,000 visitors each day. The design and construction of the museum were held to international standards with strict protection measures for the collection of cultural relics. The plan of structural design meets the seismic design criteria for rare earthquakes. The upper structure of the museum is separated from the lower foundation by a seismic isolation layer so that the maximum horizontal displacement and deformation tolerance of the building can reach 1.2 meters. Should an earthquake occur, 74% of the seismic force can be effectively reduced to ensure the safety of the building's main structure, important indoor facilities and cultural relics.

At the intersection of the three buildings is a supporting complex, providing shopping, catering, cultural, entertainment, parking, and other commercial amenities for the three major facilities and the Central Green Forest Park. In addition, the shared supporting facilities are also connected to a reserved rail transit project, covering an area of 49,000 square meters, which will enable passengers to transfer to M101 and M104 subway lines. Green transportation can be achieved, as citizens and tourists will be able to take the subway and access the three major buildings directly through the underground shared space.

In 2022, the main body and curtain walls of the three buildings will be done as scheduled, the mechanical and electrical engineering as well as the road and utility tunnels in the region will be basically completed, and so will 90% of the fine decoration. The facilities will then be ready for exhibitions and operation.
